What we do
at Harpenden RDA...
At Harpenden Riding for the Disabled, we have provided safe and enjoyable horse riding sessions for people with disabilities for over 25 years. Our trained instructors work closely with each rider to ensure that they feel comfortable and confident on the horse.
We believe in a person-centered approach and tailor our sessions to meet the individual needs and goals of each rider. We also offer opportunities for riders to participate in equestrian competitions and events.

Our history
Harpenden Riding for the Disabled was founded in 1984 by a group of dedicated volunteers who recognised the benefits of horse riding for people with disabilities. It originally operated out of Greenacres Farm in Harpenden, but since 2019 we have been based at Sandridgebury Farm stables, conveniently placed between Harpenden, St Albans, and Wheathampstead.
Since its inception, The Harpenden RDA Group has grown into a thriving local charity organisation with a team of trained instructors, volunteers, and supporters who are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of people with disabilities.

Become a volunteer
Volunteers are the heart of our organization and we welcome anyone who is passionate about helping people with disabilities to join us.
As a volunteer, you can assist with horse care, help with riding sessions, or support our fundraising efforts. We provide training and support to all our volunteers and ensure that they have a meaningful and rewarding experience with us.
