Ride with us...

We believe that horse riding can have a positive impact on physical and mental health, as well as improve the overall quality of life for people with disabilities.

Our Sessions

On Wednesdays, we run 2 instructor-led sessions for riders. They are outdoors, in either the Sandridgebury all-weather menage or in the picturesque nearby fields. We aim to operate all year round...weather permitting!

Wednesdays:
  4:15pm - Session 1
  5:00pm - Session 2

Our riding sessions:

  • Our sessions are instructor-led, with each session including a minimum of 2 riders.

  • We cater to riders of all ages and abilities... and aim to group similar abilities together.

  • All our sessions are outdoors, held in either the riding school menage (ring) or on a variety of routes through the nearby fields (a hack).

  • Each session is tailored to the abilities of the participants, with an emphasis on enjoyment!

What riders can expect:

  • Riding experience is not required...we can help riders achieve the level of riding ability that gives them joy!

  • Sessions can include stimulating exercises and games designed to improve balance, core strength, communication, coordination and specific riding skills.

  • Sessions can also be relaxing, as we like to take advantage of the beautiful countryside around Sandridgebury.

  • All sessions aim to help riders improve core strength, balance, and increase their knowledge of riding, not to mention exercise.

What riders should wear...

  • We ask that all riders come wearing boots or shoes with heels. (Walking boots or Wellington boots are okay.) Riders will not be able to ride in tennis or running shoes.

  • Suitable waterproof or warm jacket, depending upon the weather (or as the UK forecast indicates!)

  • We can provide a riding helmet for your initial sessions,  but we often recommend you get your own riding helmet if you'll be coming regularly! (We can help with recommendations for where to buy riding helmet and/or gloves if necessary.)

  • We can provide hi-vis vests for your ride, or you can bring your own.

What parents and carers can expect:

  • When the lesson is in the menage (ring)  - parents and carers can watch in either in the comfort of their car or by standing near the menage...  (For the safety of the riders, we can't have people watch by leaning on the fence.)

  • When we choose to go on a hack out in the nearby fields or forest, parents and carers can join us by walking the route behind the riders....

  • Or...you might just need to use the session as a break and catch up on your own things!

Let us know you're interested!
